Reno extraordinaires, Shannon and Simon Vos, have been flat out creating the Ultimate Man Cave for their mate Tim, with the help of YouiRewards. The boys won The Block by bringing some fresh ideas to their fit-out and they’ve done it again with their Man Cave. Here are the 5 strokes of brilliance we loved best.
1. MAKING THE MOST OF HIGH AND LOW SPACE.
When you’re limited by space, it’s a good idea to see how you can include multiple activities into one zone. It’ll give your Man Cave a feeling of fullness, and give your mates plenty of leisure options every time they pop round.
The boys included a putting green so Tim could practice his short game. That was a pretty nice touch. But they outdid themselves by also putting a dartboard in at the end of the putting green. It’s like 2 sporting challenges all in one.
2. BIG-SCREEN ACTION FROM EVERY ANGLE.
Everyone loves a big-screen TV. It’s taken watching sport to a whole new level, and hooked up to the right streaming services, you can watch whatever you want when you want.
But by fixing the TV flat on to the wall, you won’t always be able to see the TV from different parts of the room. Shannon and Simon solved this first world problem by putting the TV on a pivoting bracket, so that the TV could be positioned at whatever angle was required. No more missing that wicket ball, this idea will have you always able to see the action.
3. THE SECRET GOLF PUTTER
Nestled beside the putting green, the boys created a cavity in the bar where Tim’s trusty putter could always be found. Little touches like this are worth thinking about at your prep stage, so you don’t get to the end and wish you’d added a bit of extra flavour.
4. THE KITCHEN TOOLBOX
Why just put plain old cabinetry under the bar, when you can man-up the kitchen supplies. Simon visited YouiRewards partner Supercheap Auto and bought a waist-high tool chest for under the bar. It’s the perfect spot to keep your bottle openers and utensils, and beats just an ordinary run-of-the-mill cupboard.
5. NICE DECKS
The boys headed into YouiRewards partner rebel, and picked up a couple of mini-skate ramps for the back space of the Man Cave. Teamed with some brightly coloured skate decks on the wall, it’s the chance for every middle-aged man to try and rediscover their youth through the power of skating.
