Youi today announced it will expand its current sponsorship of the NRL by joining as an official partner of the 2017 Rugby League Word Cup.
The Rugby League World Cup (RLWC2017) is Rugby League’s premier international competition with 20 teams, both men and women taking to the fields of 13 host cities across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The Youi partnership will see the widely-recognised Australian and New Zealand insurance brand appear on the referee and match official kits across the five weeks of RLWC2017 competition.
Youi CEO Frank Costigan said “the partnership with the RLWC2017 is a natural extension of our existing sponsorship of the NRL referees and match officials.
“It was an important decision as Youi is already a well-recognised supporter of the game, having worked in collaboration with the NRL in 2017 to bring more Rugby League content and opportunities to the fans.
“We are enormously proud to support Rugby League and further our support into the exciting spectacle of the RLWC2017 matches where we will see the world’s best play it out.”
RLWC2017 General Manager Commercial and Marketing, Rohan Sawyer said “Youi has a relationship with the game’s match officials and it is pleasing that they have extended that partnership to the Rugby League World Cup.
“With the tournament just weeks away, it is encouraging for match officials to have the support of a brand like Youi.”
This year’s Rugby League World Cup competition kicks off with Australia vs England in Melbourne on Friday October 27 and concludes with the Final played in Brisbane on Saturday December 2.
When asked which team between Australia and New Zealand Frank will support himself he said, “that’s a tough one, as CEO of Youi for both Australia and New Zealand, my support is behind both the Aussie and Kiwi teams and of course through our sponsorship of the referees and match officials we support all the teams and the game of Rugby League.”
