Changes to trail commission

Keystart will cease paying trail commission on any loan application received from 1 July 2021 if the loan account is still active 60 months or more from either the settlement date or first drawdown for a construction loan. You won’t see the effects of this change until at least financial year 2027.

Updated pre-approval requirements

Keystart are pleased to announce that pre-approvals will now be valid for a period of up to 120 days from the date of issuance.

This means that where a previously issued pre-approval was due to expire after 90 days and an extension of a further 30 days was required, no additional documents will need to be provided.

Keystart will still complete and updated credit check at 90 days to ensure the customer’s debt position as not changed as well as re-confirm employment prior to formal approval.

The current Offer to Borrow (OTB) pack is a lengthy document (up to 116 pages) and requires the customer to sign in multiple places. As one of the most important documents the customer will receive throughout their home ownership journey, we decided to do a complete review to ensure the pack is compliant. We also aimed to enhance the customer experience of the pack with an improved tone of voice applied throughout.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Keystart invested heavily in process improvements through technology. We saw an opportunity to reduce the volume of printing and postage at Keystart, and fulfil a long-time goal of improving the experience for customers and brokers.

As a result we have implemented DocuSign, an easy-to-use digital transaction platform that allows us to send and manage legally binding documents securely. This is only for applications that have “Electronic Correspondence” preference selected upon lodgement.
