The Teachers Savings and Loan Society Limited ‘TISA’ is the largest Savings & Loans Society in Papua New Guinea and the largest Credit Union in the Pacific.
TISA is a registered Savings and Loans Society under the Savings and Loans Societies Act 2015, and regulated by the Bank of Papua New Guinea. The Society is also a registered company under the Companies Act 1997, and is regulated by the Investment Promotion Authority.
The establishment of the Society in 1972 provided an avenue for registered teachers and employees of the Department of Education, to be actively involved in savings and to assist each other in times of financial need. In the early years, the Society had about 3000 members with a total cash turnover of K2 million per annum. Today the Society has a nationwide membership, open to employees of both public and private institutions, and is the largest Savings & Loans Society in PNG and the largest Credit Union in the Pacific.
The Society’s main activity is savings and loans. TISA provides an avenue for its members to be actively involved in savings and financially assists with affordable loan products. It also has investments in banking and finance, airlines, insurance and properties.
The Society has branches in 17 provincial center's around PNG serving its nationwide membership. Embracing the digital era, TISA is progressively utilizing electronic channels to reach its members and deliver faster and convenient services. TISA is the first non-bank financial institution and first Savings and Loans society in the country to offer its members a debit card, called the YumiCard, for members to easily access their funds. TISA continues to work towards assisting its members access services with ease and convenience through electronic channels, a 24/7 Helpdesk team and its branch network.
